Randy missed cueing us in on this one...

I saw the Gretsch kit, and the China to the left, and the sound was pretty decent, but it was a backdrop for the TV Guide Channel, so they focused on the fact that Faith was freebying a concert for the troops at Fort Bragg...

He's on a live video of her latest single, with full orchestra. It's on CMT (Oh God, not Country Music).
Vinnie has been very active in Nashville lately; great stuff (Shedaisy, Joe Nichols et al). C'mon all you fuse heads, don't you know that 98% of all the touring back up musicians for Nashville acts cut their teeth on Weather Report and Return to Forever. Get some cow poop on your shoes! Yee Hah!

yeah, that TV special concert with her and Vinnie is coming out on DVD at some point.

Then there was some VH1 or CMT special about Faith & her new album (basically a commercial for the new album). a bunch of recently taped stuff where you can see VC great. that "cry" groove/tune is pretty smokin' IMO. the entire band seems hand-picked with a nice studio-ish groove...or mebbe the piano player/leader got free license to hire at will. "well...hell, then let's get Vinnie. forget those Nashville guys."

which leads me to ask...anyone know the story behind VC getting the Faith Hill gig ? and the complete live band line-up ?

If i'm not mistaken [but i may be - some1 will hopefully correct me if so], Stevie Hornbek [keys] left Faith [where'd he go - Trisha Y?!], & Greg Mathieson came on board, so he recommend's VC 4 the gig...no surprise since VC & GM often played the Potato together [intertwined between all those Karizma/Garfield gigs]....

I'm pretty sure the band was Greg Mathieson on keys, Vinnie on drums, Michael Landau and Dann Huff on guitars, and Neil Stubenhaus on bass. What a crazy lineup. I think Michael Landau and Michael Thompson switched off though.
